gamguru BLACKJACK STRATEGY

Blackjack Strategy Whether you are playing in an online casino or in a real casino here is a free online game strategy : our Seven Point Basic Blackjack Strategy that will help you to win more often. Seven Point Blackjack Strategy 1) Keep drawing cards until you have at least 17. 2) If the dealer has an up-card of 2 to 6 stand on any hand of 12 and over. (This is because his hand is weak and he is more likely to go bust by having to draw extra cards to get to 17, if he has a 5 or 6 up card his hand is very weak.) 3) Double Down if you have 10 and the dealer's up-card is 9 or less or if you have 11 and the dealer 's up-card is 10 or less again you should double down. (These are strong hands and you should increase your bet to make the most of them.) 4) Split pairs of 8's as you have a high probability of busting by taking the extra cards you will need to win because it is too low a hand to stand. 5) Split pairs of Aces to double your chances of getting a Blackjack. 6) Don't split a pair of 4's because 4's don't make for good hands and you don't want two such hands on the go. 7) Don't split pairs of 5's or 10's because you risk diluting strong hands.
Advanced Strategy Before we refine the above Seven Point Strategy lets review the options we have to affect our odds of winning.
Insurance and Surrender You should never take insurance as the odds are in the casinos favour. Surrendering is of marginal benefit and most online casinos do not allow it anyway but if you wish you can surrender on 16 if the dealer has an up-card of 9 or better and with 15 if the dealer has an up-card of 10. An important factor in Blackjack is whether or not you have an Ace because since they can count as either 1 or 11 it means that if you are counting the Ace as 11 and are drawing extra cards, should you go over 21 the value of the Ace drops to 1 so in effect you get a second chance. In Blackjack a hand with an Ace is called soft and without Hard.
Hit or Stand ? In deciding whether to Hit or Stand you should consider not just your own cards but the dealer's. If your hand is low it maybe that if the dealer has a poor hand you would be better standing and hoping that the dealer goes bust.
Splitting Pairs Splitting pairs when it is advantageous swings the odds in your favour so you must do it when indicated.
Doubling Down Doubling Down allows you to increase your bet when the odds swing in your favour so you should do it to maximise your profits when winning. Note that you wouldn't risk doubling down with your 10 or 11 made from a Ace containing Soft Hand because you also have a 20 or 21 and although you could increase your bet you may end up with a worse hand from the extra cards dealt and lose. DEALER'S UP-CARD
H = HOLD S = STAND SP = SPLIT D = DOUBLE DOWN
Card Counting As mentioned on the Blackjack page, one technique used by professional gamblers is card counting. This is based on the increased probability of the dealer going bust when there are more high ranking cards in a part of the deck. Online casinos typically shuffle the deck after each hand so card counting cannot work and real casinos cooperate to detect and bar card counters feeling that it is against the Blackjack Rules. However if you wished to practice online as a mental exercise or to recapture the spirit of the Battle of Wits between the Casinos and Counters this is what you would do. After each hand starting from a baseline of zero assign a value of + 1 to each 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 card played and a value of - 1 to every 10, J, Q, K and Ace played 7, 8, and 9's have a zero value and so they are ignored. The higher the score the higher the proportion of low cards played and high cards left in the deck. Casinos deal from a shoe that normally starts with eight packs in it and the cards are set aside after being played. So the size of the remaining deck declines as the game progresses. To account for this we need to make an adjustment to our running count which we do by dividing it by twice the number of decks we estimate to be left in the shoe. During play we cannot only play as and when we think the odds are in our favour as the casino would realise we were counting and ask us to leave. On the other side of the coin if the count is high we should bet more to take advantage. As a guide chose a size of bet you are comfortable with and consider this to be your unit of betting. Always bet at least this on each hand. Then as your running count varies bet that number of units plus one or two extra units as you see fit. For example if the count was +8 and there were two decks left in the shoe and you had chosen a unit of £5 you would divide 4 ( twice the number of decks ) into + 8 to get 2 and bet £15 or £20 pounds ( two units of £5 plus an extra one or two ). |
