Types of Poker Tournament

Satellite Tournaments

Satellites are tournaments, usually multi-stage, where the winner wins an entry into a larger prize tournament. For example, hosts multi-stage tournaments where the winner will win an expense paid trip to play in an offline World Poker Tour tournament.

Freerolls

Freeroll tournaments are tournaments that are FREE to enter on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no buy-in or entry fee to play, and there is usually a small cash prize for the winner. Freerolls are also available where the winner will win an entry to one of our larger cash prize multi-stage tournaments.

Freerolls can be a great way to turn a $0 investment into a $ million cash prize!

Single-table Tournaments

Single-table tournament are just what they sound like. The tournament involves one table of players and ends with a cash prize for the last player standing (or last 2-3 in some cases).

Multi-stage Tournaments

Just like the name suggests, these tournaments start with many tables where the winners of each combine to play at the next level. After a determined amount of stages, the final players combine on a championship table, where the top player(s) win a cash prize or entry into a larger tournament.

Sit 'n' Go

Sit 'n' Go is a term used to describe a tournament that begins the moment all seats at a table are filled, instead of following a preset schedule. All single-table and freeroll tournaments at Gamguru Poker are Sit 'n' Go tournaments. Additionally, the first stages of most multi-table tournaments begin as Sit 'n' Go.
